Basic Types of Health Insurance in the Health Reform Era

Health reform in Indonesia has brought about significant changes in the country's health system. In order to overcome health problems, one of the important things is to have health insurance that can provide protection for the community. In this era of health reform, there are several basic types of health insurance that people can choose from.

1. National Health Insurance (JKN)

The National Health Insurance or National Health Insurance (JKN) is a health insurance program organized by the Indonesian government. This program was launched in 2014 as an effort to provide better access to health for all Indonesians. At the beginning of its launch, JKN only offered a basic package with general health insurance. However, nowadays, the program has expanded and offers several additional packages such as dental health, mental health, and maternal and child health.

2. Private Health Insurance

Apart from JKN, people can also choose to have private health insurance. Private health insurance generally offers more comprehensive health coverage and wider coverage compared to JKN. There are many private health insurance companies that offer various types of insurance plans at various prices. However, keep in mind that the cost of premiums paid for private health insurance is usually more expensive than JKN.

3. Micro Health Insurance

Micro Health Insurance is a type of health insurance aimed at people who do not have access to conventional health insurance or JKN. These programs are usually offered by non-governmental organizations or private health insurance companies with affordable premium fees. Micro Health Insurance generally provides basic health coverage such as outpatient care, hospitalization, and delivery.

4. Corporate Health Insurance

Corporate Health Insurance is a type of health insurance provided by companies for their employees. These programs usually cover a wide range of health coverage, including outpatient, inpatient, and routine check-ups. The premium fee for company health insurance is usually paid by the company, so employees do not need to pay the premium fee.

In the era of health reform, having health insurance has become increasingly important for the people of Indonesia. With several basic types of health insurance available, people have the option to choose insurance that suits their needs. However, before choosing health insurance, be sure to check carefully and compare the coverage and premium costs offered by each type of health insurance. Also make sure to pay attention to the terms and conditions that apply, such as age limits, types of diseases covered, and the waiting period before a claim can be submitted.

In addition, it is important to understand that having health insurance is not a guarantee to get good and quality health services. Therefore, the community also needs to pay attention to the quality of health services provided by hospitals and other health facilities. Communities can conduct research and obtain information about hospitals or health facilities that have a good reputation in providing quality health services.

In order to improve Indonesia's health system, the government continues to carry out reforms and improvements in the administration of health insurance. In this era of health reform, people must be active and take advantage of the various health insurance options available to get better health protection.
